A Parent's Nightmare: They Guessed My Son's Prescription 😡
I'm writing this as a warning for anyone, especially parents, considering buying glasses online. My experience with GlassesUSA was a complete nightmare that I felt compelled to share after a frustrating back-and-forth with their customer service. We ordered a pair of glasses for our 12-year-old after he found them using the virtual try-on, but he said he had trouble seeing with them. We went back to the doctor to check everything, and he informed us that the pupil distance (PD) was incorrect. The glassesusa site does not prompt you to provide the PD number, and if you don’t know to provide it, they will just assume a value. Of course, that means the value will be wrong for many buyers, and it was certainly wrong for my son. After trying to resolve this through slow, painful emails, I finally managed to get someone on a chat.
Customer: The glasses you sent for my 12-year-old are completely wrong. The doctor confirmed the PD is incorrect. Your site never even asked for the measurement!
CS Rep: I'm sorry to hear about the issue with your son's glasses. Can you please provide the order number? We can certainly help you with an exchange.
Customer: An exchange isn't the main point! Your system is flawed. You just guessed a critical measurement for a child's prescription. Now he has no glasses to wear while we sort out your mistake.
CS Rep: I understand your frustration, sir. If a PD is not provided, our system uses a standard value. I apologize for the inconvenience. I can process a free remake for you once you return the original pair.
Customer: So he has to go without glasses while we wait? This is unacceptable. You need to fix your ordering process so this doesn't happen to another family.
CS Rep: I will certainly pass your feedback along to our technical team. For now, I can issue a prepaid return label and expedite the production of the new pair once we receive the old ones.
The reason I left this review on the website is to hopefully prevent other parents from falling into the same trap.
